Federal Infrastructure and Communities Minister Amarjeet Sohi says he doesn't anticipate many major changes to the makeup of the board of the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority, despite a change of government in Ottawa.

Sohi was in Windsor on Thursday for a series of meetings, which included a visit to the bridge site.

Mark McQueen, the chair of WDBA's board of directors, recently announced that he was stepping down from his position. He had been appointed to the position by the Conservatives when they were still in government.

Sohi said he did not have any information to provide on McQueen's replacement, but he offered thanks for the work the outgoing chair has done.

The minister was also asked whether he expected to see other changes to the board.

"To my knowledge, I am not aware of any changes being thought about,"Sohi said, when speaking with reporters.

But Sohi said any appointments occurring in future under a Liberal government would be both open and transparent.

The minister also reiterated the importance of the bridge project to Ottawa.

"The government of Canada's commitment to building the Gordie Howe International Bridge is unwavering,"he said as he began his remarks to reporters on Thursday morning.
