Ambassador Bridge raises Canadian toll to $6.25

Toll charges at the Ambassador Bridge have increased today.

The owners of the privately-owned international crossing raised the Canadian toll to $6.25 for passenger cars.

The American charge remains $5 US.

The change was brought on by the decline of the loonie over the past few months.

Commuters can save money by purchasing reward cards. A person with a NEXUS card and reward card save $1 per crossing. A person with just a reward card gets a discount of 40 cents per crossing. Reward cards must be purchased in U.S. funds.

Meanwhile, in downtown Windsor, tolls remain $4.50 heading into Detroit and $4.75 returning to Windsor, payable in either currency.
