Windsor's popular plant sale back for 21st year

In addition to the large selection of shrubs and flowers, the city decided to grow more vegetable plants this year, including kale, tomato, rosemary, cilantro and fennel.

The City of Windsor'sannualplant sale atLanspearyPark Greenhouse returns Saturdaywith20,000 plants up for grabs.

In addition to the large selection of shrubsand flowers, the citydecided to grow more vegetable plantsthis year, including kale, tomato, rosemary, cilantro and fennel.

Horticulture staff are bracing for largecrowds.

"It's hilarious because you got four people wide and a line coming from the greenhouse parking lot all the way to Ottawa Street, or they will loop around and go to Langlois Street," said Wanda LeTourneau, the city's supervisor of horticulture.

The most expensive plant is $40 with all moneyraised going towardthe Paul Martin Garden inWillisteadPark.

"We grow all the product ourselves so we can charge a little bit less, it's great for the city and great for the community," said LeTourneau.

The plant sale runs from8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with some residents planning to line up at6 a.m.to get first dibs.
