Bear spray allegedly used in Windsor drug store robbery

Windsor police are searching for two suspects who allegedly robbed a pharmacy in the 500 block of Tecumseh Road East Saturday, armed with what police suspect to be a shotgun and bear spray.

Windsor police are searching for two suspects who allegedly robbed a pharmacy in the 500 block of Tecumseh Road East Saturday, armed with what police suspect to be a shotgun and bear spray.

Police arrived at the scene shortly before 5 p.m. and confirmed a noxiousspray had been used. Everyone in the store was evacuated. People were treated for exposure and the building was ventilated. No serious injuries were reported.

According to police, two suspects entered the pharmacy at the back entrance with their faces covered by masks. They approached the pharmacy counter in the store and stole a quantity of narcotics.

During the robberya customer got into a physical confrontation with one of the suspects, and was sprayed with suspected bear spray.

The suspects then fled the store out the back door, and drove off in a newer model grey Ford F-150pickup truck, said police.

The Forensic Identification Unit attended and processed the scene. Detectives from the Major Crimes Branch are actively investigating the robbery.

One of the suspects is described as a white male, heavy build,bald head, wearing a grey baggy sweatshirt with white T-shirt underneath, blue pants, white running shoes. He was wearing a black balaclavaover his face.

The second suspect isdescribed as a white male, medium build, brown hair, wearing a red hooded sweat shirt with an orange traffic vest on top and blue jeans. He was wearing a gas mask overhis face.

Police said these suspects areconsidered to be armed and dangerous, and urged people to avoidapproaching them and to call 911 if they see them or their vehicle.
