Bellevue House receives $100K boost from family foundation

The funding is a "major boost" towards the restoration of the building, which dates back to 1816 and was previously on the National Trust for Canada's Top 10 list of endangered properties.

The dining room at the Bellevue House National Historic Site will be named for the Gatfield Family Foundation following a $100,000 donation.

The funding is a "major boost" towards the restoration of the building, which dates back to 1816 and was previously on the National Trust for Canada's Top 10 list of endangered properties.

"It is hoped that this major contribution will persuade others to support our efforts and thos of the Town of Amherstburg in opening the doors of Bellvue," said Bellevue Conservancy treasurer Michael Prue, who added they were "thrilled" to be partnering with the foundation.

The dining room is one of five "major rooms" on the main floor that are up for naming rights as part of a $1 million fundraising goal set by the town and conservancy.
