Ken Lewenza, national president of the Canadian Auto Workers union, has been called many things during his labour career. Now he can add "doctor" to that list.

Lewenza received an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from the University of Windsor at convocation ceremonies on Friday. The Windsor native was a high-school dropout forced into the working world early as a teen parent

In his acceptance speech, Lewenza encoruaged graduates not to settle or just getting a nice job or home, but to remember to give back and work towards making the world a better place.

Members of Local 444 were on hand to witness Lewenza receive the honorary degree, and he accepted the degree on behalf of the CAW.
