CBC Windsor has confirmed that the Children's Aid Society has removed two Lev Tahor children from their family in Chatham.

Lev Tahor is a Jewish sect that moved to Chatham last month.

The lawyer for Lev Tahor tells CBC that two children were taken on Thursday.

The lawyer says this follows an investigation by the Children's Aid Society.

This incident is unrelated to a Quebec court order.

That order is seeking to have Ontario CAS remove 14 children from the Lev Tahor community.

Earlier this month, a justice of the peace in Chatham denied permission to Children's Aid to remove children from the Lev Tahor group's homes.

Children's Aid has appealed that decision.

That case is adjourned until Dec. 23.
