'Fixit' on the go: Six new bike stations in Windsor parks

Cyclists in Windsor can make quick bike repairs on the go, now that six parks have been outfitted with "fixit" stations.

Cyclists can pump their tires and make minor repairs free of charge

This bike "fixit" station at the Riverfront is free of charge for any cyclist to use. (CUPE Local 82)

Cyclists in Windsor can make quick bike repairs on the go, now that six parks have been outfitted with "fixit" stations.

The stations have a pump, a stand, and an assortment of tools to be used free of charge whenever the parks are open.

Fundsfor the stations came from CUPELocal 82 and ward funds fromCouncillors RinoBortolinand Chris Holt.

Some units were installed this week at Jackson Park, Optimist Memorial Park, Great Western Park and the Riverfront near Caron Avenue,while Willistead Park and Mitchell Park will have installations at a later date.

Councillors Bortolin and Holt will be at the Optimist Memorial Park location at1:00 p.m.Friday for a demonstration.
