Frank Schiller is the federal Liberal candidate for the riding of Windsor-Tecumseh.

Schiller was the only candidate seeking the nomination and was acclaimed at a nomination meeting held Monday night at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Tecumseh.

He says he's "looking forward to working hard, to earn the trust and confidence of all the voters in Windsor-Tecumseh in the coming election. "

Schiller was born and raised in Windsor but has been living in Ottawa, where he runs a public affairs and government relations company.

Responding to those who call him a "parachute candidate", Schiller says"that's just silly."

"I'm proud to be born here, raised here, I went to school here, I grew up here and I'm going to use my experience in Ottawa to create jobs and opportunity for the riding here," he said.

If elected in the upcoming election, set for this coming fall, Schiller says he'll look into border and trade agreements that work formanufactures, growers and food processors. He also says he'll make the autoindustry a priority.

"I'll fight hard to bring in an auto strategy that puts employment here locally first; Canadian jobs first," he said.

Schiller will be campaigning against the NDP's Cheryl Hardcastle, for sure. The Conservative Party of Canada has yet to chose a candidate for the riding.
