The group Medics4Healing Haiti was scheduled to be in Haiti this week delivering medical supplies and care to the island nation. They were there this time last year and have collected 50 hockey bags worth of supplies.

Hurricane Matthew has postpone a Windsor-based medical mission to Haiti.

The devastation from Hurricane Matthew is delaying a medical mission trip to Haiti led by Windsor-Essex paramedics.

At least five people in Haiti are dead after Matthew made landfall on Tuesday. It swept across a remote area of Haiti with 233 km/h winds. Government leaders said they weren't close to fully gauging the impact in the vulnerable, flood-prone country.

"It'sdevastatingto hear thenews that once again, Haiti is beingdevastatedby a natural disaster," said Kim Schroeder, one of the leaders of Medics4Healing Haiti. "They were still reeling from the earthquake in 2010. It's not something they need right nowor ever."

The groupwas scheduled to be in Haiti this week delivering medical supplies and care to the island nation. Theywere there this time last year as well. This year 11 EMS paramedics and 12 volunteershave collected 50 hockey bags worth of supplies.

The trip has been postponed until Nov. 5.
