20-year-old Lakeshore Canadiens player identified as victim of crash

A 20-year-old Windsor man who was killed in a vehicle crash in Lakeshoreon Tuesday has been identified as a player for the Lakeshore Canadienswho"immediately made an impact both on and off the ice."

A 20-year-old Windsor man who was killed in a vehicle crash in Lakeshoreon Tuesday has been identified as a player for the Lakeshore Canadienswho"made an impact both on and off the ice."

The team announced the death of Sylvain Lessardin a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Lessardwas described as a"great teammate and a joy to be around at all times."

"His infectious smile and pleasant conversation will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lessard family and his many friends at this time."

Lessard was a 2021 graduate ofcole secondaire catholique l'Essorin Tecumseh. The school also posted a message expressing condolences.

Ontario Provincial Police say the crashhappened around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday.

According to investigators, anSUV collided with a transport truck on County Road 42, west of Patillo Road in Lakeshore.

The driver of the tractor trailer was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police say.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

According to authorities, their investigation continues and they're asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact theLakeshore OPP detachment.
