Ontario's government liquor storeis targeting the taste buds ofWindsor's "American neighbours" as part of a new marketing campaign running on Detroit radio stations.

The advertising, which was also introducedin Buffalo, N.Y., began April 11 and is expected to continue into the summer months, LCBO officials say.

"LCBO stores in Windsor invite our American neighbours to say, 'Hello spring,' with refreshing picks and even more refreshing cross-border prices," the ad says while an upbeat jingle plays in the background.

Christine Bujold, an LCBO spokeswoman, said the advertising campaign is meant for Americans who are planning on vacationing in Ontario this year.

"[The campaign] is to generate awareness and keep the LCBO top of mind for our American visitors as a place to come," Bujold told CBC News. "Or perhaps they will look for product that might not necessarily be available in their state."

Bujoldreported visitors to the LCBO outlet on University Avenue West in Windsor increased to32 per cent, something that can partly be attributed to the dollar.

"While you're visiting, visit us, and make your dollar go further," Bujold said.
