More fentanyl patches seized in Chatham area

For the second time this week, police have made a hefty seizure of fentanyl patches and oxycodone in the Chatham area.

For the second time this week, police have made a hefty seizure of fentanyl patches and oxycodone in the Chatham area.

On Wednesday, Chatham-Kent police executed a search warrant at a local residence and seized fentanyl patches and oxycodone tablets. Police say the drugs have an estimated street value of $16,000.

They also found illegal cigarettes, as well as Canadian and U.S. cash.

A 56-year-old Chatham man faces two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking. The charges have not been proven in court.

The raid in Chatham came two days after the OPP reported finding dozens of fentanyl patches, oxycodone and methamphetamine in a Toyota Matrix that was pulled over on the 401 on Monday evening.

In that incident, police also estimated that the seized fentanyl patches were worth $15,750 on the street.

A spokesperson for the Chatham police said Thursday that she was not aware of any connection between the two busts.
