Fourth candidate enters race to become Chatham-Kent mayor
Robert Salvatore Powers has two master's degrees
A longtime resident of Chatham-Kent wants to use his experience working for the federal and provincial government as well astwo master's degrees (one in public policy and the other in political science) to fill the mayor's seat.

Robert Salvatore Powers filed his nomination papers Wednesday to become Chatham-Kent's mayor a decision he has reflected on "long time."
"If it takes folding tables in the back of a pickup truck, I want you to know that I am going to make it happen. I am going to bring your municipal government to your front door," said Powers, who currently works as a slot technician at Gateway Casinos in Dresden.
The race is on
There are now four people trying to become Chatham-Kent's mayor:
- Randy Hope incumbent
- Alysson Storey
- Darrin Canniff
- Robert Salvatore Powers
Residents have until July 27 to file their nomination papers. The municipal election takes place Oct.22.
