Stellantis's new Dodge Charger won't initially be available for purchase in Ontariodespite being built at the Windsor Assembly Plant, the company said in a statement Wednesday announcing pricing for the new electric vehicles.

The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona is built at the Windsor Assembly Plant, but will initially be available in British Columbia and Quebec. It will become available in other markets "as production ramps up," the company said in a statement.

The company also revealed the pricing for the new vehicle on Wednesday, with a starting price of $57,790 CAD and $89,790 CAD across two models.

The vehicle is the first all-electric Dodge car.

"The next generation of Dodge muscle cars has arrived, and they are flat out the best muscle cars ever made," said said Matt McAlear, CEO of the Dodge brand with Stellantis.

The company said it expects the vehicle to be eligible for all government EV rebates.

Two-door versions of the car began production in summer 2024 and will be available later this year. The four-door models will be available in 2025.

The company had committed to building new vehicles at the plant late last year in a new collective agreement between Stellantis and Unifor, which represents workers at the plant and at the Brampton Assembly Plant. It had announced in March the Charger would be produced in Windsor.

The Windsor Assembly Plant also buildsthe Chrysler Pacifica minivan.

Dave Cassidy, then-Unifor Local 444 president representing workers at the plant, said it was a "good news story" for Windsor-Essex that the Dodge musc le cars will be built locally.

"It's a good news story for Windsor-Essexand it's great for generational changes as we gointo this EV market, and with the new products that are coming into Windsor Assembly Plant."

Stellantis is also working with LG Energy Solution on building the NextStar EV battery plant, which is expected to begin the first pieces of production in late 2024.
