East Windsor crash results in serious injuries, charges

A 27-year-old driver is facing charges over a late-night collision near the Ford Test Track in Windsor's east end. A 19-year-old passenger in the driver's vehicle was seriously injured.

A 27-year-old driver is facing charges over a late-night collision in Windsor's east endand a 19-year-old passenger in the driver's vehicle is dealing with serious injuries.

Windsor police responded around 11 p.m. Saturday to a report of a crash on Tourangeau Road in the area of Seminole Street.

Officers arrived to find the wreckage of a Chevy Sonic, plus other damaged vehicles.

Police said they learned thecar had been heading north on Tourangeau a residential neighbourhood at "an extremely high rate of speed."

The vehicle went through a stop sign without stopping, then struck several parked vehicles before coming to rest on the lawn of a home.

The injured 19-year-old passenger needed the help of Windsor firefighters to get out of the vehicle. The individual was taken to hospital for treatment.

According to police, the car's 27-year-old male driver had minor injuries. He's now facing a charge of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm.

The parked vehicles that the Sonic hit on Tourangeau were not occupied at the time.

Windsor police are appealing to the public for witnesses or evidence of the incident especially video evidence.
