Windsor honours people killed in Quebec mosque attack

Members of the public are invited to participate in a candlelight vigil Tuesday at 7 p.m. in recognition of the six people killed in an attack at a Quebec mosque Sunday.

A large crowd gathered outside Windsor city hall Tuesday night to honour the Muslim men who were killed during an attack at a mosque in Quebec.

Sixmendied and more than a dozen were wounded when shots were fired inside the mosque duringevening prayers on Sunday.

AlexandreBissonnette,27, has been charged with six countsof first-degree murder and five counts of attempted murder while usinga restricted firearm in connection with the shooting.

The tribute held in Windsor was an emotional one for many in the crowd.

Vigil attendees joined thousands across Canada in commemorating the loss, includinghundreds who gathered in London, Ont. Monday morning.

Similar events were heldacrossCanada,includingin Calgary where the country'sfirst Muslim mayor,NaheedNenshi, offered a prayer for the victims.
