3,500 Windsor-Essex students face suspension for lack of immunization records

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has issued final suspension notices to 3,589 Grade 11 and 12 students because of incomplete immunization records. The school board has set up several immunization clinics to cut down on the number of possible suspensions.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has issued final suspension notices to 3,589 Grade 11 and 12 students who have not completed their immunization records.

To cut down on the incomplete documentation, the Catholic school board has organized clinics at several schools.Students have until Feb. 28 to update their records, or they will be suspended for up to 20 days.

Immunization clinics will be hosted at three Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board sites starting mid-February, according to spokesman Stephen Fields.

Holy Names High School: Feb. 15
Saint Thomas of Villanova:Feb. 16
St. Anne Catholic High School:Feb. 21

Students can also update their records by calling the health unit's Healthy Schools Department, faxing their record to the health unit, inputting their information online and dropping them off at a health unit site.
