Windsor LGBT community stands with with Orlando shooting victims

Hundreds of people joinedWindsor's LGBT community in avigilshowing support for the victims of Sunday's mass shooting in Orlando.

Wednesday, hundreds of people met in downtown Windsor holding candles, signs and the multi-coloured pride flag. They sang songs and condemned the violence fromthe largest mass shooting in recentU.S. history.

"In Canada, we've won the right to be married. We've won the right to our partner's benefits, life insurance and all the things that go with it," said Robin Sherman, a minister at Tecumseh United Church. "We feel safe and comfortable in our lives and suddenly, we wake up on a Sunday morning and we're hit with the reality that our fight is not over yet."

DanMacDonald, a local radio host, said his thoughts turned to the name of the nightclub where the shooting happened.

"Pulse. If nothing else, that's the one things we all have in common is a pulse," he said. "Every single one of us has a heart."
