Windsor police charged two parents today with second-degree murder following the death of their infant.

A 27-year-old female and a 28-year-old male were initially arrested and charged in June with aggravated assault after a police investigation determined they caused the injuries of their two infants who were inhospital.

The two were also charged with assault related to the aforementioned investigation.

Windsor police said one infant was sent to hospital withnon-life threatening injuries, while the other was taken to an out-of-town hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The infant taken out-of-town died from their injuries on July 2.

Both parents received upgraded charges of second-degree murder, while the original assault charge remains active.

Windsor police said they're withholding the parents' names to protect the identity of the two young victims.

Police added the infant taken to the local hospital is safe.
