CBC Windsor Sounds of the Season 2019

Over the course of a month last year more than 25,000 kilograms of food and more than $30,000 was collected for the 2018 Sounds of the Season campaign Windsor's highest total ever.

A month of giving in support of The Windsor-Essex Food Bank Association

CBC Windsor's annual Sounds of the Season event goes live-to-air from the St. Clair Centre for the Arts and from Phog Lounge in downtown Windsoron Dec. 13 to support theWindsor-Essex Food Bank Association.

Over the course of a month last year more than 25,000 kilograms of food and more than $30,000 was collected for the 2018 Sounds of the Season campaign Windsor's highest total ever.

The donations went to the Windsor-Essex Food Bank Association, which supports 15 area food banks.

The Dec. 13 event features musical guests and interviews and you can attend our holiday show in person, listen online or watch on social media.

Donate cash or food at our live shows on Dec. 13 or throughout the month of December at Phog Lounge or CBC Windsor's newsroom on Riverside Drive.

What do area food banks need?

The Windsor Essex Food Bank Association served 137,504 people last year, distributing close to 3,000,000 pounds of food.

The most needed items in Windsor-Essex are:

  • Peanut butter.
  • Cereal.
  • Canned meat.
  • Canned fruits.
  • Snacks for children's lunches.
  • Soup.
  • Spaghetti sauce.
  • Juice.
  • Macaroni and cheese.
  • Rice and pasta.
  • Dried foods.

How to watch our Sounds of the Season live broadcasts:

Watch Windsor Morning broadcast livein person at St. Clair Centre for the Arts on Dec. 13 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Riverside Drive West and Ferry Street.

Watch CBC News at 6 live in person at Phog Lounge on Dec. 13 at 157 University Avenue West from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Stay for the full news broadcast from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Special guests are a big part of our Sounds of the Season show. This year featuresmusicians Dane Roberts, Crissi Cochrane, Stephanie Baker and Elizabeth Robinson.

During Windsor Morning:

  • Dane Roberts performs from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Crissi Cochrane performs from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Before CBC News at 6:

  • Stephanie Baker and Elizabeth Robinson 'The Twisted Sisters' perform from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Prizes:

Guests who attend and make a donation to Sounds of the Season on December 13, 2019 are eligible to be entered into a draw. Donations will be collected at St. Clair Centre for the Arts (between 6-9 AM) and the Phog Lounge (between 5-6:30 PM). Anyone who drops off a cash or food donation at these locations during these times will receive a ballot. Winners will be drawn and contacted after 6:30 PM on Friday, December 13.

Prizes include:

  • Decorated Christmas Tree with Ornaments, donated by Canadian Tire on Walker Road

  • 5 pairs of tickets to the S'Aints Concert at Caesars Windsor

  • Family pack of 4 tickets to a Windsor Spitfires game

People who make a cash or food donation at CBC Place between Friday, December 13 and Tuesday, December 31 are eligible to have their ballot entered for the following prizes. It also includes anyone who made a donation during the live remotes on Friday, December 13 at St. Clair Centre for the Arts (between 6-9 AM) and the Phog Lounge (between 5-6:30 PM) whose ballot wasn't chosen for one of the prizes above. A draw for the following prizes will take place by Friday, January 10, 2020.

  • Weekend trip for two to Toronto. Includes a pair of return economy tickets from Windsor to Toronto on Via Rail, a two night stay at the Intercontinental Hotel on Front Street, a $100 gift certificate to the Amsterdam Brewhouse and a $100 gift certificate to the Hothouse Restaurant. (Hotel stay must be used by Nov 21/20. Via tickets must be used by Nov 31, 2020 and cannot be used Dec 20/19 - Jan. 5/20 or during Easter 2020).

  • A family pack of four tickets for Peter and the Wolf on January 25, 2020 at the Windsor Symphony

  • A pair of tickets for Queen and Journey at the Windsor Symphony on January 31, 2020.

  • A family pack of four tickets to the all ages show Dancing with the Stars on February 1, 2020 at Caesars Windsor

  • A family pack of four tickets to the all ages show The Strumbellas on February 6, 2020 at Caesars Windsor

  • A 20-minute ride in the Stearman! Winner can choose when they want to do the flight, offer expires Dec. 31, 2020.

Those who donate online ($25 or more) via the CBCWindsor website between Monday, December 16, 2019 until 12:00 PM, Dec. 31, 2019 are eligible to be entered into a draw for the following:

  • A family pack of four tickets to the all ages show Dancing with the Stars on February 1, 2020 at Caesars Windsor

  • A family pack of four tickets to the all ages show The Strumbellas on February 6, 2020 at Caesars Windsor

The winner will be chosen and notified by Friday, January 10, 2020.
