Stabbing in downtown Windsor results in attempted murder charge

Police are searching for a 21-year-old man on an attempted murder charge after a woman was stabbed outside of a bar in downtown Windsor Tuesday night.

The victim, originally transported with life-threatening injuries, is in stable condition

Police are searching for a 21-year-old male suspect after a stabbing in downtown Windsor Tuesday night.

The incident happened before 10 p.m. in the 100-block ofon Ouellette Avenue.

Thesuspect fled the scene before police arrived. The woman was taken to hospital withlife-threatening injuries.

Heisdescribed as a black male standing 6-feet-tall, weighing 210 pounds andhaving brown eyes with a black, puffy afro.

He was last seen wearing a blue-hooded sweater with a red shirt underneath and blue jeans. The suspect was also wearing white and redrunning shoes.

The victim and suspect are believed to have known each other.

The suspect has been identified as Benjamin Carter andis facing charges of:

  • attempted murder
  • assault with a weapon
  • possession of a dangerous weapon
  • breaching probation (two counts)

Police say he'sarmed and dangerous. Police warn the public not to approach him and to call 911 instead.

Windsor Regional Hospital confirmed Wednesday the victim is in stable condition.
