CS Wind fined $60,000 for 2014 workplace accident

CS Wind Canada pleaded guilty to failing to protect the worker, says the province's ministry of labour.

CS Wind Canada has been fined $60,000 for a workplace accident that injured an employee's feet two years ago.

The company pleaded guilty to failing to protect the worker, according to a news release from the province's Ministry of Labour.

An employee at the wind turbine part makerwas pulled into a steel bending machine on Nov.4, 2014. A ministry investigation led to10work orders against the Windsor company, located at 9355 Anchor Drive.

Investigators also found the the incident took place because the skirt in the bending machine was not blocked to prevent movement.

The worker suffered multiple injuries, according to the ministry.

In addition to the fine, the court imposed a 25 per cent victim fine surcharge as required by the Provincial Offences Act.
