Adele's 25 sets new 1st week sales record with 2.4 million albums sold in 4 days

Selling more than 2.3 million copies of 25 in the U.S. alone in its first three days of release, Adele appears on track to set new sales records with her much-anticipated new album.

In just days, Adele's 25has officially set a new first-week sales record, moving 2.433 million albums in the U.S.since its release Friday.

On Tuesday, Nielsen Music said that in just four days the British singer broke the record previously set by 'N Sync in 2000.The boy band's No Strings Attachedsold 2.416 million albums in its first week.

In Canada, the album has sold approximately 216,000 copies in the past four days, according to Nielsen Music Canada. 25 is predicted to break the Canadian first-week sales record, currently held by Cline Dion'salbum Let's Talk About Love, which sold 230,000 copies in its first week of release in November 1997.

The new album's first single, Hello,is spending its fourth week on top of Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

The speculation is swirling around just how high 25 will reach.

Adele has been making headlines for several weeks, at first teasing out 25's release with a primeTV spot, online missives, music video debut,special appearances and interviews. This pastweekend, the campaign continued with several high-profile performances, including in aBBC TV special andan appearance as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live.

Adele's last album, 2011's award-winning21,sold more than 11 million units in the United States. Worldwide, it has sold more than 30 million units.
