All-Drake radio station hits airwaves in North Carolina
Rebranded Drake 92.7 features nothing but music from Toronto rapper
If the song's not by Drake you won't hearit on an FM radio station based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The station began broadcasting in the new all-Drake format over the weekend. That's when the city's all-gospel channel movedto a newfrequency, leaving behind what has beenrebrandedon Instagramand Twitter asDrake92.7.
There is speculation the station is playing songs by the Toronto rapperaround the clock,as a marketing ploy, ahead of what it iscalling a "special announcement" planned for later on Monday.
Rumours that Drake himself haspurchased the station have been dismissed because under FCC (Federal Communications Commission) rules, foreign ownership of U.S. broadcast stations is not allowed.
