Anna Nicole Smith's son dies suddenly

Three days after giving birth to a daughter, Anna Nicole Smith has lost her 20-year-old son.

Daniel Wayne Smith died suddenly in the Bahamas on Sunday morning, said Smith's attorney, Howard K. Stern.

"Anna Nicole is absolutely devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being," he said.

A statement on Smith's website Monday confirmed the death and said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor.

Hewas found in his bed at Doctor's Hospital in Nassau. He was there to visit his mother after the birth of her daughter, a healthy girl.The identity of the baby's father has not been made public.

Born during his mother's first marriage, to fry chef Billy Smith, Daniel appeared in her 2002 reality TV show The Anna Nicole Show. He also had roles in the movies Skyscraper and To the Limit.

Anna Nicole Smith, the former Vicki Lynn Hogan from Mexia, Tex., first came to public attention as Playboy's Playmate of the Year in 1993.

In 1994, she married wheelchair-bound oil tycoon J. Marshall Howard, 89, after meeting him at a strip club. He died after 14 months and she began a continuing legal battle over his estate with his son, E. Pierce Marshall, who died this June.
