Avril Lavigne weds her Sk8er Boi, Whibley

Canadian rock couple Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 have tied the knot in California as 110 guests looked on.

Canadian rock couple Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley, the lead singer for Sum 41, have gotten hitched in an outdoor ceremony in California, according to news reports.

The21-year-old bride wore a white gown as she exchanged vows with Whibley on Saturday in a gazeboblanketed in white rosesat a private estate in Montecito, 140 kilometres northwest of Los Angeles, theCanadian Press reported.

It was a "short, classy ceremony with the sound of helicopters droning overhead carrying photographers trying to get a shot," a source told the wire service.

The nuptials werea poorly keptsecret as many news outlets had predicted the pair would be married very soon.Reports circulated almost two weeks earlier that the duo had told family in Canada to buy their airline tickets.

Unconfirmed reports said Lavigne held a bachelorette party at the end of June and received handcuffs and a sexy red bra and panty set.

A cluster of paparazzi grouped outside the estate but could not get a view because of the high hedges and palm trees.

Lavigne's sister and long-time girlfriendswere in her bridal party while Sum 41's drummer, Steve Jocz, was Whibley's best man as the 110 guests looked on.

According to the source, the reception was held in a tent filled with red roses and candles, with a jazz band providing background music.

Lavigne, of Napanee, Ont., and the 26-year-old Whibley of Toronto, have been dating since 2004. He proposed to her inJune 2005.The two share a home in Los Angeles.

Lavigne shot to fame as a 17-year-old with the songs Complicated andSk8er Boi, and has recently dabbled in acting first, as the voice of Heather the possum in the animated movie Over the Hedge. Shewas cast inRichard Linklater's film Fast Food Nationasa teenage animal activist.

Whibley's band, formed in 1996, blasted up the charts with their 2001 album All Killer No Filler.The four-man band's latest album, Go Chuck Yourself, was released in Canada in March.
