Britney explains her partying ways

Britney Spears says she may have gone "a little too far" with her recent partying escapades.

Britney Spears admitted Thursday she may have gone "a little too far" with her recent partying.

In a post on her official website, Spears explained why she has been increasingly seenliving it upin Hollywood and Las Vegas in recent weeks.

"It's been so long since I've been out on the town with friends," the singer said. "It's also been two years since I've even celebrated my birthday. Every move I make at this point has been magnified more than I expected, and I probably did take my new-found freedom a little too far."

Spears filed for divorce from her husband of two years, Kevin Federline, in early November.

Since then, she has been regularly seen at nightspots with the likes of Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, a trio dubbed Three Bimbos of the Apocalypse by the New York Post.

On separate occasions, paparazzi photos revealed Spears was not wearing underwear.

"Anyway, thank God for Victoria's Secret's new underwear line!," Spears saidon her website, acknowledging the candid shots. "I look forward to a new year, new music and a new me."

Soon after some of the x-rated photos appeared, The View host Rosie O'Donnell opined that the lingerie maker should voluntarily send Hollywood's party girls underwear.

"They need to be kept a secret down there," O'Donnell said.

Both Spears and Hilton pulled out of a scheduled appearance at Monday's Billboard Music Awards.

Spears, who turned 25 last week, is seeking custody of her two children with Federline one-year-old Sean Preston and Jayden James, born in September.

Federline, who has two children from a previous relationship, is also seeking sole custody of his children with Spears.

It was reported that the 28-year-old aspiring rapper received the breakup newsvia text message while he was taping a show for MuchMusic in Toronto.
