CBC-TV is clearing a number of shows from its schedule, cancelling the dramas Cracked and Arctic Air, as well as cooking shows Best Recipes Ever and In the Kitchen with Stefano Faita.

The latest cancellations come after news that sketch and stand-up comedy program The Ron James Show was ending, as would daily interview program George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight following its current 10th season.

Popular host and interviewer Stroumboulopoulos is poised to join Hockey Night in Canada next season, after Rogers Communications takes over Canadian NHL broadcasting rights.

Upcoming projects the public broadcaster has in the works include a new season of reality competition Dragons' Den, the half-hour sitcom Schitt's Creek starring Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Dan Levy and Chris Elliott and an internationally co-produced TV adaptation of the acclaimed novel The Book of Negroes.

There was no comment regarding further announcements about other new or returning shows. Canadian TV networks traditionally reveal upcoming fall season details in May.
