CSAs 2016: Christopher Plummer, Jacob Tremblay to present awards

Elder statesman actor Christopher Plummer and child star Jacob Tremblay are among the presenters set for the upcoming Canadian Screen Awards.

The two lead actor nominees (Plummer for Remember and Tremblay for Room)are among the first batch of celebrities announced,to hand out trophies at the March 13 ceremony celebrating the past year's best film,television and digital productions.

Other CSA nominees are also signed up to present awards, including:

  • Waris Ahluwalia (Beeba Boys)
  • Lyriq Bent (The Book of Negroes)
  • Kristin Lehman (Motive)
  • Helen Shaver (Orphan Black, Vikings)

Additional presenters will be announced at a later date.

The powerful dramaRoom, an Irish-Canadian co-production adapted from the bestselling novel by Emma Donoghue and one of this year's Oscar nominees, leads thefilm contenders with 11 nominations. Thefish-out-of-water comedy Schitt'sCreek,created by father and son Eugene and Dan Levy, led the televisionfield with 14 nominations (plus an additional onein the digital section).

Hosted by comedian Norm Macdonald, the 2016 Canadian Screen Awards gala (part of the wider Canadian Screen Week celebrations) will take place March 13 in Torontoand air on CBC-TV.

This year's festivities will include a tribute to comic actor and past CSA host Martin Short, who will be honoured for his exceptional contribution to the Canadian film and TV industries over his lifetime.
