David Foster 'politely' declined to help with Donald Trump's inauguration

Canadian music producer David Foster has worked with some of the world's most famous faces, including Whitney Houston, Madonna, Cline Dion and Rod Stewart, but he won't be adding president-elect Donald Trump to that list.

The multiple Grammy Award-winning musician posted a message on InstagramSaturday after reports began to surface that he might be helping wrangle performers for Trump's inauguration Jan. 20, 2017 in Washington, D.C.

"I was asked to participate in the upcoming inauguration some time ago and I politely and respectfully declined."

Foster, 67, added: "Any news outlet that is reporting otherwise is misinformed."

The music mogul has been photographed at several celebrity events alongside Trump over the years, but never appeared to extend his political support. Foster supported President Barack Obama in the 2008 election.

Considering how many big-time musicians were supporting Hillary Clinton during the U.S. election campaign, it's not surprising that it's beendifficult for Trump to find quality performers for the big day.

A Trump stafferconfirmed earlier this week that 16-year-old Jackie Evancho, a classical singer and runner-up onAmerica's Got Talent, will perform the national anthem.

A rumour that tenor Andrea Bocelli might be joining the lineup has spawned the hashtag#BoycottBocelli on Twitter. Fans are also discouraging himfrom considering the gig on his Facebook page. There is no confirmation on whether he will bepart of the inauguration ceremony.
