A red sports car made famous in the hit '80s film Ferris Bueller's Day Off will be on theauction block just north of London next month.

British auction house Bonhams has announced thatone of the tworeplica Ferrari 250GT Spyder California sports cars that Hollywood studio Paramount commissioned for the acclaimed John Hughes comedy will be sold as part of its Motor Cars and Automobilia auction on April 19.

The replica vehicle, which can be driven, carries a pre-sale estimate of$44,000 to $59,000 Cdn. The auction will take place at the RAF Museum in Hedon, England.

Ferrari created a limited number of 250GT Spyder Californias between 1958 and 1963, making the existing vehicles today extremely rare and valuable.

Because of the expense of the original car, the studio decided instead to have two replicas built for the 1986film.

In the classic high school comedy, the title character (portrayed by Matthew Broderick) decides to play hooky on a beautiful day.

All the while pursued by a suspicious dean of students, Broderick's character proceeds to have a series of adventures with his girlfriend and his best friend who reluctantly agrees to borrow his father's beloved Ferrari for their day-long outing.

The vehicle to be auctioned is the surviving replica, as the other was destroyed in a notable scene near the end of the film.
