Netflixis in "very preliminary talks" with Gilmore Girls creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino for more episodes of the popular family drama-comedy series, according to the streaming giant's chief content officer, Ted Sarandos.

"We obviously loved the success of the show, fans loved how well it was done, it delivered what they hoped,"Sarandos said during a press event in Germany, according to the U.K.'s Press Association.

"The worst thing is to wait a couple of years for your favourite show to come back and for it to disappoint you but they sure delivered and people were really excited about more and we have been talking to them about the possibility of that."

The married co-creators teamed up with Netflix and most of the original cast including stars Alexis Bledel, Lauren Graham and Kelly Bishop for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which debuted inNovember.

The four90-minute instalments returned to thefictional New England town of Stars Hollow and the multigenerationalstory of Rory,Lorelaiand Emily Gilmore.

The revival, set nearly a decade after the show ended in 2007, was anxiously anticipated by fans especially after a contract dispute ledSherman-Palladino and Palladinoto leave the series ahead of its final season.

Though the Netflix project allowed the creators to explore plotlines they said they'd originally envisioned to wrap the series, the reboot also paved the way for future episodes with its open-ended conclusion.
