Friends and family thanked fans for sharing their thoughts and prayers.

"For those who have sent condolences and posted tributes, we thank you there have been so many," said MacLean's brother, Donald.

"Every musician, writer and artist knows there's a hell of a price to pay for being in this business [Kenny] had demons along the way, but in the last year he found the strength to deal with them head on," he added, listing his late brother's work on a new solo album, record label and other recent musical endeavours.

As well, the 52-year-old MacLean had been in the midst of reuniting his former Platinum Blonde bandmates for a gig prior to his death.

Also on Thursday, friends and family announced plans for a free tribute concert in MacLean's honour at Toronto's Mod Club on Dec. 17.
