Husky Energy gives $1 million to Banff Centre

Husky Energy Inc. of Calgary has donated $1 million to the Banff Centre for the Arts.

Husky Energy Inc. of Calgary has donated $1 million to the Banff Centre for the Arts.

The donation includes a contribution towards the capital campaign to renovate thefacility in Banff, Alta. Thelargest meeting space in the new Kinnear Centre for Creativity & Innovation to open next yearwill be named the Husky Great Hall.

The donation also will help pay for young artists to come to Banff for residencies and for faculty who can mentor them in their development of new work, according to Mary Hofstetter, president of the Banff Centre.

The centre offers residencies for musicians, composers, dancers, artists working in theatre and other kinds of performance arts.

Husky president John Lau and his wife, Heather, have been long-term supporters of the Banff Centre, and Husky has been a presenting supporter of the Banff Midsummer Ball since 1998.
