Michael Jackson's father intends to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the late pop star's doctor, Conrad Murray,Joe Jackson'slawyer revealed on Tuesday.

Brian Oxman, who represents the King of Pop's father and former manager, condemned Murray's actions in advanceof the singer's 2009 death as "reckless."

Oxman added that he was giving the doctor's legal team notice of the forthcoming civil lawsuit, which he said would come within 90 days.

Prescribing Jackson a cocktail of drugs in the six weeks before his death, as Murray did,was akin to "loading six bullets into a gun with only six chambers," Oxman said, according to Reuters.

The office of Murray's lawyer, Ed Chernoff, declined to issue a comment.

Jackson hired Murray in 2009to be his personal physician as he prepared for a highly anticipated, sold-out concert series in London.Jackson died in Los Angeles on June 25, 2009, days before he was to have begun the performances.

Authorities in Los Angeles eventually ruled the entertainer's death a homicide, citing "acute propofol intoxication" as the primary cause and other sedatives as a contributing factor.

Prosecutors charged Murray, a cardiologist, with involuntary manslaughter in February. He surrendered himself to police, entered a plea of not guilty and was released on $75,000 US bail.
