Jamie Lynn Spears says she is proud of sister Britney Spears 'for using her voice'

Jamie Lynn Spears, youngersister of Britney Spears, said on Monday she was proud of thepop superstar for speaking out about her life under theconservatorship overseen by their father and said she supported whateverwould make the singer happy.

In a video posted on Instagram, Jamie Lynn Spears said shefelt she could now comment publicly about the situation becauseher sister had testified about it in court.

"Since the day I was born, I've only loved adored andsupported my sister," Jamie Lynn Spears said.

"I'm so proud of her for using her voice," she said, addingthat "I am only concerned about her happiness" and "have nothingto gain or lose either way."

After years of silence, Britney Spears pleaded with a judge to end her court-appointed conservatorship. The star said it allowed her father to control virtually every aspect of her life.

Britney Spears, 39, told a Los Angeles judge last week theconservatorship she is under is abusive, and said that she had been preventedfrom removing a birth control device so she could try to have ababy.

"I don't care if she wants to run away to a rain forest andhave a zillion babies in the middle of nowhere, or if she wantsto come back and dominate the world," Jamie Lynn Spears said.

The younger Spears, an actor who appeared in the Netflixseries Sweet Magnolias,added she would support Britney Spears"ending the consevatorship or flying to Mars or whatever elseshe wants to do to be happy."

Also on Monday, fellow pop star Christina Aguilera took to Twitter to similarly show her support. Aguilera, who starred alongside Britney Spears in Disney'sThe Mickey Mouse Clubwhen both were children, wrote that "it is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish."

"To a woman who has worked under conditions and pressure unimaginable to most, I promise you [Britney] deserves all of the freedom possible to live her happiest life," she continued.

Britney Spears's legal arrangement began in 2008 when the singersuffered a mental health breakdown. A year later she made acomeback, released new albums and performed live for 10 yearsuntil late 2018.

In 2020, Britney Spears began the legal process to removeher father, Jamie Spears, from handling personal affairs rangingfrom her medical care to who visits her secluded villa outsideLos Angeles. Jamie Spears also is a joint conservator of thesinger's finances.
