Jessica Par on Mad Men's surprise story lines

Montrealer Jessica Par talks to Q about the secrecy surrounding Mad Men story lines and how becoming Don Draper's wife is changing the dynamic of the show.

Jessica Par says she didn't know whether the wedding between her character, Megan, and Don Draper would go ahead until she saw the script for this season of Mad Men.

The producers of the show set in a 1960s ad agency are so secretive about story lines, the cast learns not to ask about what's ahead, Par said in an interview with Jian Ghomeshi, host ofCBC's Q cultural affairs show.

The marriage between Megan and Don Draper is changing the power dynamic between them as her character is far froma push-overin her relationship with her husband, Par said.

It's also made the Quebec actress into a big star, with the opening of this season of Mad Men featuring Parin asultry performancea 1960s French tuneat Draper's 40th birthday party. Zou Bisou Bisou immediately sparked attention on social media and has climbed up the iTunes charts.

"Its really great that its getting such a great, such a positive response. Its rewarding. Ive been doing this for 14 years," she said.

Pare has previously appeared in Stardom, Lost and Delirious and in the 2009 Montreal-set film The Trotsky.
