Joan Rivers funeral set for Sunday in New York City

The funeral for Joan Rivers will take place in New York City on Sunday at the Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan.

'I want paparazzi Hollywood all the way,' Rivers had hoped for her final send-off

The funeral for Joan Rivers will take place Sunday in New York at the Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan, confirms the temple's rabbi.

"We mourn with her family, friends and all those millions to whom she brought laughter and joy,"Rabbi Joshua M. Davidson told ABC News in a statement. The rabbi did not divulge other details.

The comedian died Thursday at 81 after spending a week in hospital.She had been unconscious after suffering cardiac arrest during a routine medical procedure, an endoscopy. The clinic is now under investigation by the state health department.

Her daughter, Melissa Rivers, confirmed earlier this week that her mother had been on life-support.

On Friday, flowers and messages continued to collect on the steps of Riverss Upper East Side apartment building.

Rivers who once said that afuneralis just a red carpet show for dead people described the kind of funeral she wanted in her 2012 book, I Hate Everyone Starting With Me.

I want paparazzi and I want publicists making a scene! I want it to be Hollywood all the way, she wrote.

I wantMerylStreepcrying, in five different accents. I dont want a eulogy.I want to look gorgeous, better dead than I do alive. Friends included politicians, royalty

The comedian had a wide circle of friends including former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and his wife Mila.

Rivers first meeting with the former PM was at gala celebration of Brian Mulroney's 65th birthday.

"She said the first time she met Brian Mulroney and then met his wife that she was sure I was his third wife because of the jewelry I was wearing," Mila Mulroney recalls.

Mulroney met Rivers more than twenty years ago through a mutual friend who had worked with former American first lady Nancy Reagan. The Mulroneys were living in 24 Sussex at the time.

The two hit it off, and they met over the years at dinners and events in New York, Montreal, Florida, and elsewhere.

Across the Atlantic, Prince Charles and Camillareleased a statement saying they were "deeply saddened" to hear of the performer's death.Rivers was a guest at the 2005 wedding of Charles and Camilla.

"Joan Rivers was an extraordinary woman with an original and indefatigable spirit, an unstoppable sense of humour and an enormous zest for life. She will be hugely missed and utterly irreplaceable."
