Mandel ready for daily Deal or No Deal

Deal or No Deal is going to be broadcast daily starting in September, with Canadian-born host Howie Mandel continuing to hand out the money.

"My wife could not be more thrilled to have me out of the house and at work Monday through Friday," Mandel joked in a statement.

The biggest difference between the daily version and the show that has aired weekly for the last three seasons is that the banker will be giving away $500,000 US, instead of $1 million.

TV audiences will also be able to play a version of the game online for prizes of up to $10,000.

The syndicated show will follow the same format, with the participation of models and the banker. However, contestants will be able to hold the briefcases they have picked in the half-hour series.

The show asks contestants to choose from 22 briefcases, each with a hidden value ranging from a penny to the top prize.

The contestant must opt for the briefcase or a monetary prize being offered by a banker, playing the odds of getting the briefcase with the largest prize.

Created by Endemol, the show was first aired in the Netherlands and became a huge hit in the U.S.

NBC said it averaged more than 11 million viewers in 2007-2008.

The daily version of the show goes to air Sept. 8.
