Madonna is a true Material Girl, landing on top of Billboard's list of musicians with top earnings in 2008 of $242,176,466 US.

The 2008 Money Makers list, which came out this week, says the performer's earnings are largely from her record-breaking Sticky and Sweet tour.

Rounding out the top 10 (all figures in U.S. dollars) are:

  • Bon Jovi: $157,177,766.
  • Bruce Springsteen: $156,327,964.
  • The Police: $109,976,894.
  • Celine Dion: $99,171,237.
  • Kenny Chesney: $90,823,990.
  • Neil Diamond: $82,174,000.
  • Rascall Flatts: $63,522,160.
  • Jonas Brothers: $62,638,814.
  • Coldplay: $62,175,555.

Madonna's led the list despite her flagging album sales. Hard Candy, released last April, only made it to the middle of the pack in terms of sales from 2008.

Madonna, who is recently divorced from Guy Ritchie, has announced an additional25 dates inthe U.K. and Europe.

According to Sticky and Sweet producer Arthur Fogel, it marks the first time the singer, 50,has extended a tour.

"There's been talk during each [previous tour], but it has never come to be," he told Billboard.

"But with this one, she loves the show, she's had a great time and she's excited about playing new markets."
