The Revenant

The frontier saga The Revenant, partially filmed in B.C. and Alberta,leads the 2016 Academy Awards with 12 nominations, including best actor for Leonardo DiCaprio.

Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad Max: Fury Road received 10 nominations, including best picture, best director for George Miller and best cinematography.

The Martian

RidleyScott's sci-fi epic The Martian landed 10nominations, including best picture and best actor for Matt Damon.

Room

Canadian-Irish co-productionRoom, picked up four Oscar nominations, including best picture, best actress for Brie Larsenand best adapted screenplay from the bestselling novel by Emma Donoghue.

The Big Short

The Big Short received five nominations, including best motion picture andbest actor for Christian Bale.

Brooklyn

The Canada/United Kingdom/Ireland co-production Brooklyn picked up thee nominations, including for best picture, best actress for Saoirse Ronan and for Nick Hornby's screenplay (adapted from the novel by Colm Toibin).
