U.S. singer Prince will perform two late-night club shows at the Montreal Jazz Festival this June, a last-minute addition to one of the summer's most renowned music festivals.

It has been 10 years since the singer known for hits such as Kiss and Purple Rain played in Montreal.

Prince requested an intimate venue with a dance floor for his return concert, jazz festival organizers said, adding that he contacted the festival to ask if he could perform two late-night shows.

The concerts will be held June 24 and 25 at the Mtropolis, which has a capacity of about 2,000 people.

Prince usually plays to arenas holding 15,000 to 20,000 people. Tickets go on sale at noon Tuesday.

The jazz festival rescheduled concerts by The Unsettlers and Florence K to accommodate the eccentric artist.

Prince, who wasinducted into the Grammy Hall of Famelast December, has been touring internationally to promote his last album, 20Ten. Last year he declared "the internet is over" and refused to release his music for digital downloading.
