Zoolander 2, Batman v Superman lead Razzies race for 'worst film' prize
Contenders increased from 5 to 6 because 'cinematic crap in 2016 was so extensive:' organizers
Ben Affleck, Robert de Niro, Julia Roberts, Johnny Depp and Naomi Watts might be Oscar-calibre actors, but they're also some of the latest contenders for Hollywood's annual "dishonour:" the Razzies.
Organizers unveiled their list of movie "mis-fires" from the past year on Monday, a day before the U.S. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announces this year's Oscar nominees.
"The crop of cinematic crap in 2016 was so extensive," organizers stated in a release, that the contenders were "expanded from five nominees to an unprecedented six" in each category.
Zoolander 2 and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice lead the pack, with the "15-years-too-late sequel" nominated in all nine Razzie categories and the "the WTF comic book battle-royale" right behind with eight nods.
