The first full trailer for the next James Bond film, Spectre, has been released, with Daniel Craig reprising his role as 007 in a two-and-a-half minute glimpse of the forthcoming instalment, directed by Sam Mendes.

Mendes was also at the helm of 2012's mega-successful Skyfall.

Opening with a tranquil sunset over Mexico City, Bond cooly lies to 'M' (played by Ralph Fiennes) about "taking some overdue holiday."

Then, the action accelerates from "zero to 60 in 3.2 seconds" just like the super spy's new tricked out car.

The trailer is filled with classic elements of any Bond flick: explosions, shootouts, car chases, helicopter stunts and, of course, a beautiful woman (Monica Bellucci) he cannot resist.

Plus, audiences are teased with a hint of plot: it appears that Bond has deep ties with a mysterious, evil organization called Spectre.

The trailer also provides the first real look at the chilling supervillain Franz Oberhauser, played with apparent relish by Austrian actor Christoph Waltz.

"You came across me so many times, yet you never saw me. What took you so long?" he asks Bond.

"It was me, James. The author of all your pain."

Spectre is set for theatrical release on November 6.
