Thriller tops poll of influential videos

Michael Jackson's Thriller video has been voted the most influential in pop music history, according to a MySpace poll.

Michael Jackson's Thriller video has been voted the most influential in pop music history, according to a MySpace poll.

The poll asked industry experts to rank some of the most innovative videos ever produced.

Jackson's 14-minute Thriller, with15 per cent of the vote, raised the bar for video production when it was released in 1983.

Jackson died last June at age 50 in Los Angeles.

The experts ranked OK Go's 2006 viral hit Here It Goes Again in which the band members jump on and off treadmills in second place.

"Only two of the top 10 were made this century," said Will Francis, site editor of MySpace UK.

"Which shows despite massive advances in technology, a brilliant idea coupled with a great star is an unbeatable format."

The top 10:

  1. Thriller, Michael Jackson (1983).
  2. Here It Goes Again, OK Go (2006).
  3. ... Baby One More Time, Britney Spears (1998).
