George Clooney bursts into theatres this weekend in Disney's action-packed sci-fi adventure Tomorrowland, but if audiences look behind the robots and ray guns they'll find a plot filled with wormholes.

The action is 'amazing' in George Clooney's sci-fi epic, but the plot has 'a few wormholes,' says CBC film critic Eli Glasner

Tomorrowlandbursts into theatres this weekend like a blazing fire ofoptimismamid a grim buffet ofdystopianflicks.

Theshiny sci-fiadventure, named after thefuturisticland from Disney's theme parks, starsGeorge ClooneyascynicalinventorFrank Walker, who was kicked out of the titular city.

In this story, Tomorrowland is atechnologically advancedrealmin analternate dimension that houses"the best and the brightest people in the world," Walker explains.

Thedisillusioned dreamer isdrawn back into the futuristic world by Casey Newtown, a tenacious teen, played by The Longest Ride actress Britt Robertson.

Written by Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird (director of The Incredibles),Tomorowlandfeatures some "amazing" action sequences, says CBC's film critic, Eli Glasner.

"But look behind the robots and ray guns and theplot is filled withfew wormholes," he says.

"As it is, it's a bit like the amusement park that inspired it: afun ride that goes nowhere fast."

Tomorrowland goes into wide release Friday.
