Thousands of Weird Al Yankovic fans respond to petition to have the parody star play the halftime show at Super Bowl XLIX in 2015.

Weird AlYankovic may want to circle Feb. 1, 2015 on his tour calendar if fans have their way.A petition to have the Tackyartist play the halftime show at Super Bowl XLIXsmashed its original goal of 50,000 signatures Thursday morning. It's now aiming for a whopping 75,000.

Ed Ball, a Yankovicfan from Seattle, says he launchedthe petition on Change.orgafter hearing some Seahawks fans suggest Justin Bieber or Selena Gomez as possible acts.

"I do not want to sit through another Black Eyed Peas disaster or see Nicki Minaj verbal-vomit some lyrics that I cannot understand. And do you want Miley Cyrus?!? Because this is how you will end up with Miley Cyrus!"

Ball also suggested that some of the many artists whoYankovic has parodied in the past could join him on stage "adding more prestige and star power."

Weird Al is currently riding a wave of success this summer.

His 14th studio album Mandatory Fun hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart last month, driven by his wildly popular "Eightvideos in eightdays" campaign.

Itreleased daily Vevo and YouTube videos parodying top hits like Pharrell Williams' Happy and Lorde's Royals, garnering millions of views and massive media attention.

So far, neither the National Football Leagueor 'Weird Al' have publicly commented on the petition.
