Soylent meal replacement bars are being recalled after reports of illness, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said Friday.

The bars, which are sold online in Canada, are also being recalled in the United States and are not currently being sold on the company's website.

In its blog, Soylent states that a small number of customers "experienced gastrointestinal issues" after eating the bars.

"After hearing from our customers, we immediately began investigating the cause of the issue and whether it was linked to a problem with the bars," the company states on its website. "So far we have not yet identified one and this issue does not appear to affect our other drinks and powder."

Customers will be reached via email about refunds.

Soylent's products are made up of carbohydrates, protein, fats and vitamins, including rice protein, oats, flour and soy.
