Homelessness, one lasting impact of Indian residential schools

Photographer Ken Armstrong, a member of the Saqkeeng First Nation, started document homelessness in Canada 10 years ago. As he took these photographs, he realized he was also seeing the ongoing impact of the Indian residential school system. First Nations photographer Ken Armstrong tells story through photo

Photographer Ken Armstrong, a member of the Saqkeeng First Nation, started document homelessness in Canada 10 years ago.

As he took these photographs, he realized he was also seeing the ongoing impact of the Indian residential school system. The photos chosen are mostly of Edmonton's homeless and inner-city community.

View the exhibition at City Hall in Edmonton, during the national Truth and Reconciliation event in Edmonton, March 27-30.

This series is an excerpt from a project that began 10 years ago documenting homelessness in Canada.
